How To Make Life Work For You

Make Life Work for you Blog photo

Since we’re on the topic of enjoying a balanced life this week, I wanted to quickly share with you a quote that I believe best summarizes this concept.

“Make life work for you!”

Whether it be work, relationships, your health or any other facet of your life, there’s always one goal in mind – make it work best for you.

  • Don’t like your job? Fix it or find a new one
  • Sick of a negative relationship? End it.
  • Tired of the way you look in the mirror? Do something positive about it now!

Too often we fall victim to mental ruts, where we believe negative aspects of our lives are unchangeable. The process is too difficult, we lack focus, the security of a bad situation is preferrable to the scariness of an unknown one.

– Even when we know it’ll be better for us in the end.

In essence, we remain in negative situations far longer than we should and, once completed, find ourselves wondering why it took us so long to change.

Every aspect of our lives should revolve around what’s best for us – even if it means taking a step back and making sure we assist others in need first.

Huh? How can putting others ahead of us equate to making every moment work in our favor?

Simple. The positive feelings we earn from helping others is one of the greatest any person will enjoy. World-renowned motivational speaker Tony Robbins often is quoted “The secret to living is giving.”

The idea here is to decide what it is in life that you truly can’t live without. For each of us, that list will differ. Then make sure each and every effort you make is geared toward achieving those goals.

If there’s anything I could ever promise, it’s that: Taking that first step and experiencing your first sense of success toward fulfilling a key life goal will provide a feeling of excitement that’s almost unmatchable.

Those who are successful live their lives this way. Those who are enjoying life, live their lives this way. Those whom you often find yourself envying, live their lives this way.

The only question is, can you say the same for yourself?

Make today better than yesterday, but not as great as tomorrow!

Best Practice To Live By #11

Raise Your Standards blog photo

On Monday, we talked about constantly demanding more from your life.

Today, I’m going to tell you how. Or rather, I’ll let my lifelong mentor Tony Robbins tell you.

“If you want to dramatically change your life, raise your standards.”

Too often we remain stuck in situations we despise, because we don’t demand more from ourselves, our lives or those around us. It’s like the famous definition of insanity – Doing things over and over the same way, yet expecting a different result.

*** If you want a better life, you can no longer accept your current situation. You must raise your life standards! ***

It’s not enough to just verbalize who you’d like to be. It’s not enough to think about the path to success based on pushing yourself away from your current pain. It’s not enough to think anything else is better.

You want real, positive and permanent change in your life? Then you need to make a conscious decision right now. Not after lunch, not after work, not tomorrow.

You need to demand more not just from your life, but from yourself. You’re the only one who can hold you back. Therefore, it’s only logical that you’re the only one that can demand and achieve more from your life.

Instead of focusing on your limitations, focus on what you are going to achieve. Raise the bar! Set your goals a little higher than you think you can ever reach. That way, if you come up just short, you’re still further ahead than you ever thought possible.

You only get one life, so what have you got to lose? Except those self-inflicted limitations that you allow to hold you back.

Make today better than yesterday, but not as great as tomorrow!
